After I retired in January 2020 we had planned to travel. We were going to Italy for the month of May, Hawaii to see friends over the summer and to England in the fall for our usual visit. Of course, the onset of the pandemic changed all of that! After a summer with 60 days where the temperature hit triple digits in Rancho Mirage we started talking about our plans for retirement.
I have always wanted to live overseas for a bit, we started talking about me getting an Italian passport and Melissa getting her Irish passport so we both had EU travel permissions. That all was possible, but it was going to take time. Then we thought about England. Melissa has her UK passport and she wanted to spend more time with her family and friends there. I could easily get a spousal visa as well. After investigating the VISA possibilities and the cost of such an adventure we decided to give it a go. After all the preparations, applying for a visa, getting plane tickets, figuring out how to get our cat Frida there, finding a place to live and packing our house, sending some to England and most to storage we headed to England for a year or so.
This Blog is my photography and writings on the yearlong adventure we are on. I hope you enjoy.
